Welcome to the Phoenix Motor Inn: Things to do

While in Marlborough stay at the Phoenix Motor Inn

Marlborough is renowned for its wine industry and with its wine tasting and delicious food, touring through the back country to Molsworth Station and beyond, scenic boat cruising in the Marlborough Sounds, bush walking and relaxing outdoor activities.

Both the Wairau Valley and the Awatere Valley are home  to a number of internationally renowned wine companies and where some of the best Sauvignon Blanc wine is produced.  Marlborough wines are  world class, and are being recognised as such.  While in Marlborough join with a wine tour and visit a winery, "a must do".

A guided tour of the Vernon Lagoon with Will Parson's Driftwood Eco-tours is also a "must do", or maybe a guided tour into the mountains or bush.  Will knows where all the birds are and no-one is ever disappointed spending a half day with him.  Check link below.

Blenheim is an aviation centre, being host to the RNZAF and SAFE Air at Woodbourne,  the Classic Fighter collection, The Aviation Heritage Centre, the Marlborough Aero Club and the Marlborough Gliding Club and numerous private aircrafts right here at Omaka, both airfields just 5 minutes from down town Blenheim.  The Aviation Centre is a world class museum of static and flyable aircraft, dating back to WW1 circa and is a must do activity.

Bradshaw Park is a living and working museum village where articles of days gone by are lovingly restored to their former glory and where possible returned to working order not just for show but to be seen to be working.

Marlborough is a true holiday destination.  The weather in Marlborough is kind to the visitor with Blenheim, on average, recording the highest number of sunshine hours of any city in New Zealand for the last 10 years (or so).  Whale Watching tours just 90 minutes away, cruising the Sounds just 40 minutes, organised Wine tours at your door, what could be simpler.

As well as having the built in facilities for a working and a retiring population, the district also has an abundance of bush, mountains and coastline makes the region ideal for outdoor active persons. The tranquil maze of coves and inlets of the Marlborough Sounds is a holiday-maker's delight, the stark beauty of the Awatere, the Wairau and Waihopi Valley's are unique and captivating regions with a wealth of attractions for visitors.

So ........ why aren't you here...?
